2009 Safari Volunteers Sign Up Now!

Safari 2009 will once again travel through the beautiful back roads of North Florida April 18 – 23, 2009.  Volunteers make this ride one of the premier cycling events in the Southeast.  Without great volunteers, Safari could not happen.  So, once again, we are recruiting for both 3-day and 6-day rides.  All volunteers receive their registration free (well, not exactly free, you do have to do some work).  You do need to complete the online Volunteer Registration Form below. Please list your preference for 3-day or 6-day, t-shirt size, and any job preference you may have.

Registration Form

Please either fill out the volunteer registration form or use the online form to volunteer.  Do not use the standard registration form please.

Download the form, fill out and mail to:

or fill out the on-line form.

What is expected of volunteers

This year, to insure an equitable amount of time is volunteered, each 6-day volunteer will be expected to spend 15 to 18 hours on assignment.  Each 3-day volunteer will need to spend half of the 6-day requirement, or 7 ½ to 9 hours on assignment.  Each job has been rated for time required as a means of planning.  For example, Sag Stops are 3 – 5 hours, Sag Drivers are 5 – 7 hours, and Road Marking is 2 – 4 hours.  All times are for a day’s ride.  Many other small jobs including cooking hot dogs, cleaning up, providing information and selling FFW apparel can be used to complete your hourly requirements.  While experience is not required, it is highly valued and will be given priority.

Other jobs include Registration on Friday and Saturday, Clean Up & Parking, and Shuttle and Truck Rentals including Port-a-Potty transport.
